Settings App

LockitNetwork

You probably have already noticed the gear icon in the top corner of the app. Once you press it, you will go to Settings. If you went to the settings from the Editor’s Log tab, you’re in luck: you already are where you’re supposed to be. Everyone else: Tab on “App” to get to the right sub-menu.

Adjusting your App

This large menu lets you adjust all kinds of things. But first we will look at settings for the app. This is how the menu App looks like in its default settings:

Some things are activated or deactivated and hopefully you will understand why.

Activate shooting day reminder
Activate shooting day reminder is activated by default. What it does is to make the app flash orange if you are not working in the current shooting day. When you turn it off the alert will be much more subtle. There is only a tiny orange bar in the top bar next to the shooting day.

Enter one sound roll per shooting day is usually activated as having it activated means that for each shooting day you can write down a sound roll number. Depending on how your production works this is probably very useful.
However, if your project does not enter sound rolls based on shooting day you can turn off the function. Once you did that, the sound roll field will be gone.

Enter take comments separately for each camera - depending on how your project is set up, you might want to take comments for shots separately for each camera. For example, do the cameras on set record the same scenes, actors, etc. simultaneously ? Or are they aimed at different scenes or sets?

When this setting is activated, your comment section in the Editor’s Log tab will look a bit different. To add comments to each camera you will have to select them individually.

Current recording medium/magazine
Once you activate this option you can add a name and/or number for the recording medium in your cameras. Go to the Shooting Day tab, then pick a camera and there will be another button where you can add a magazine name.

Save frame grabs to camera roll
As it already suggests: By activating this option, you save the frame grabs to your device's camera roll.

Activate this option to share the current slate information (scene / slate / take etc.) via WiFi. To do so press the Share icon next to the respective take. Once you create a new take the current information will be shared automatically.

Share Slate Info with MasterLockit
Share the slate information with a MasterLockit via WiFi. The advantages: The slate information gets included in the track metadata of compatible audio recorders. These are currently the 6- and 7-series of Sound Devices. Display the slate information as a “Digital Clapper” on any smartphone or tablet. The respective device needs to be connected to the MasterLockit’s WiFi as well. Enter 10.0.0.1 as URL in your browser to access the MasterLockit web interface. Then select the clapper icon.

Share Slate Info with ARRI CAP 2 cameras Share the slate information with a CAP2 compatible camera via WiFi. The advantages: The slate information gets included in the clip metadata. Please note: the information needs to be shared before the cameras is in record mode. Any editing software can read out and interpret these metadata.

ERT / ART increments (seconds)
If you work with Estimated Roll Time and Actual Roll Time, you can adjust how fine or how broad the increments are. As a default, ERT and ART are set at 5 seconds, but you can set them with any increment you would like.

Work time increments (minutes)
Same goes for work time increments. If you are tasked with noting the work time of the cast, you can decide how precise you want to log their times. The default is 5 minutes.

Theme
You can choose how LockitScript looks – there is a light mode and a dark mode. Here’s how they look in comparison: Some users say that the dark mode is better when shooting on sets with low lighting or at night.
But in the end which theme you choose boils down to preference. Either way, we won’t judge.

Scene Popup
The scene popup shows when you … When going to the menu you can select or deselect certain topics. Simply press on the circle:
You can also sort the different aspects of a scene, like set, pages, notes, location or mood. To shuffle them You can also decide if you want to show the synopsis or not.

Tip: All these things can be adjusted in the different tabs. However, changing those settings directly in the tabs will only affect the shooting day you’re currently working in. If you want lasting change it’s best to go the Settings menu and adjust everything there.
